Kobe Bryant killed in fatal helicopter
crash
L.A Lakers legend Kobe Bryant has died,
along with several others, after a fatal helicopter crash on the 26th
January 2020. The helicopter crashed into Calabasas hillside, close to the city
of Los Angeles at 9:45AM.
The cause of the crash is still unknown,
with investigations under way as to the exact reason for the fatal incidence.
The aircraft, carrying 9 people, went down
in a remote field off Las Virgenes, with investigators still trying to uncover
the exact reason for the crash. However it is known that the conditions were
foggy, and local police had grounded their helicopters due to poor flying
conditions.
Kobe Bryant is widely regarded as the best
NBA player of all time, owner of 5 NBA championships, as well as an Oscar.
Bryant is credited for exposing the love of basketball outside of the confined
walls of the US.
Tributes for the NBA legend poured in over
night and into the early hours of the morning; from celebrities, politicians
and other sports personnel’s. All NBA games will include a minute of silence
for the fallen star, his daughter and all else that lost their lives in the
fatal incidence.
Fan’s gathered outside the famous Staples
Center on Sunday, laying flowers and basketballs in memory of their idol.
“We’re all heartbroken. He was more than a basketball player. He was a
generation’s idol” Max Postyn said, the head of the basketball federation of
North London.
Bryant represented the L.A Lakers for 20
years, in that time transforming the game. The NBA issued a statement, saying
“For 20 seasons, Kobe showed us what is possible when remarkable talent blends
with an absolute devotion to winning”.
The loss of Kobe Bryant will be felt across
the sporting world. He inspired so many and shaped the lives of many young
people. The death has sent shockwaves across the world. He will never be
forgotten.
